Holidays in Germany

Beth and I left on the 23rd of Dec from Houston, TX for a holiday trip to Germany to see her brother (Ben) who is a 1st Lt in the U.S. Army stationed in Wurzburg. We arrived at 09:00 in Frankfurt the plane by the way a big Airbus A340-300 and it did not pull up to a jet-way it stopped like many others out on the tarmac. Exiting old school style by flight-o-stairs. We caught the train at the airport to Wurzburg which took about 1.5 hrs. Beth's parents Mike and Sally along with Ben were at the bahnhof to pick us up when we arrived. Which was great because Beth's bags are huge! Mike and Sally rented a 5 series BMW for the week and took off immediately for Nurnberg to catch the Christmas market before it closed. We arrived at the market with about 45 minutes to shop Beth and I did not find anything to buy. The next day we had Christmas at Ben's house in Wurzburg. Sally made chateau briand, cheesey veggies, sweet potato casserole, mash, and Cake for dessert. Some of bens friends came over as well, 1st Lt's Adam, Nate, Sarah, Jon, Mark, and Capt Christoph.

Later that night we drove to Garmisch for two days. Ben, Nate, Adam, and myself went skiing while the others went hikking and went for a sleigh ride. Beth and her parents went to see an ice gorge near Garmisch. While in town we ate at the new military lodge named the Edlweiss.

Tuesday we just stayed around the house but did make a trip to base. We ate at the PX food court which has one of the only Taco Bells from what some people tell me. No beth and I did not eat at Bell hell instead opted for Charley's steaks (awsome bacon cheese fries).

Wednesday the 29th we drove to Rothenberg and shopped for the day. We spent some time in the famous Kathie Wolfhart store looking at what appers to me to be the best christmas store in the known world. Beth and I however bought nothing.

The 30th we strolled around downtown Wurzburg and shopped and ate at McDonalds. Later that night we met some of Ben's friends (adam, sarah, jon, randy, mark, and gerrardo) along with Beth's parents Mike and Sally. Beth and I both had steak which was wonderful. Good Weiss Beer as well.

That has you up to date we are just sitting around now talking Mike and Sally head home for Geneseo tomorrow.
